Air India has launched custom-styled cabin interiors for its first line-fit Boeing 787-9 plane, marking a big milestone in its Vihaan.AI transformation programme. The plane, registered as VT-AWA, was delivered on 11 January 2026 and can begin industrial service between Mumbai and Frankfurt on 1 February 2026.
The new interiors, designed in collaboration with JPA Design, replicate Air India’s revitalised world model identification. The cabins characteristic a harmonious palette of sentimental lotions, pinks, reds, heat golds, and wealthy purples, making a sensorial expertise of quiet luxurious and modern Indian identification. The Business Class cabin consists of 30 luxurious suites with options equivalent to Bluetooth headphone pairing and wi-fi charging, while Premium Economy and Economy Class provide enhanced consolation and state-of-the-art inflight leisure methods.

Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India, acknowledged, “The arrival of this new Boeing 787-9, the first production widebody from the 470 aircraft-strong order signed three years ago, is a significant moment in Air India’s 5-year Vihaan.AI transformation programme.”
The new cabin interiors will likely be customary throughout Air India’s Boeing 787 fleet, with 19 extra manufacturing plane and all 26 current Boeing 787-8 plane being retrofitted. The retrofit programme is underway, with the primary upgraded plane anticipated to return to service quickly and the rest by mid-2027.
